This provides evidence that habituation to AFT may optimize race day performance benefits.

Biomechanical and Energetic Trends in Response to 8 Weeks of Training in Advanced Footwear Technology

Across two intervention studies, we observed that 8-weeks of biweekly use of Nike Vaporflys (VP) during hard running workouts resulted in habituation,
with a significant ~1% increase in VP-induced metabolic benefits on average. Footwear-specific alterations in metatarsophalangeal kinematics and ankle kinetics consistent with habituation were observed,
with no changes in metabolic benefits or footwear-specific mechanics observed in runners who were assigned to the traditional racing flat training group.
